Mini-Brief 1 – Divergent Thinking: Introduction

In this blog post I’m going to be introducing the first Mini-Brief, I was asked to complete for Ideas and Resolutions.

In the first Mini-Brief we partnered and assigned a toilet brush in our case and the purpose of the brief was to come up with as many creative uses for that object as possible and photograph them in these different situations.

In the brief we were working for a fictional publisher called “Viking Publishers” who were publishing around Ken Robinson’s Divergent Thinking speech. It was about being ‘novel’ and inventive with the uses of an object to illustrate Robinson’s theories about “Divergent Thinking.” We were asked to also think of how visually we represent that object…so considering the aesthetic quality of the images produced. After this we were asked to make a GIF out of the series of images we produced.

The idea of the brief is to think about different approaches to ideas generation and how this might impact on the process / final result.
